Nathaniel Young, better known as Guilt Attendant, crafts a minimalist four-track dub-techno EP for Perimeter Junk. In addition to being a graphic designer, artist, and DJ, the multifaceted New Yorker also serves as co-owner of Unimatrix Zero and the Creative Director of Dais Records. Apart from his credentials, these expansive soundscapes and punctuated four-to-the-floor compositions reveal forceful bass thuds, hypnotic rhythms, and acid-tinged strands that make the music feel like one continuous, unbroken stretch of time. Elation Shimmer, the pinnacle of crisp production values and brittle sound design components, is a densely packed collection perfect for listening in an armchair or on dance floors at three in the morning. Two tracks that particularly stand out are “Idle Sway” and “Elation Shimmer at Sunrise.”
