A blistering sonic assortment that doesn’t hold back in terms of sheer musical mayhem—managing to drive a charcoal grey wedge between rhythmic electronics and its punctuated industrial core.

Swaths of broken bass, breaks, and scorched electronic sludge

Errorgrid have a tight grip on the darker edges of electronic music. Only having recently kicked off their label in June of 2020, they’ve already amassed 18 releases and show no signs of slowing down. Reminiscent of the sharp post-industrial ice sheets that defunct imprints like Tympanik Audio and Ad Noiseam labels once inhabited as well as similar outfits like Component, Hymen/Ant-Zen, HANDS/TRUST and M-Tronic—Errorgrid continue to pull together to unveil swaths of broken bass, breaks, and scorched electronic sludge. Their newly minted Gridworks 1: Tension//Release compilation series broadens the horizon with experimental contusions ranging from dark ambient and power noise tropes (tension) and acrobatic drum infested fractures (release). A blistering sonic assortment that doesn’t hold back in terms of sheer musical mayhem—managing to drive a charcoal grey wedge between rhythmic electronics and its punctuated industrial core. As a “pay what you can” donation campaign with proceeds going to Sweet Relief (which helps struggling professional musicians through difficult times), this is a very worthwhile investment. Highlights take structural form courtesy of Dfaniks, NUNDALE, Snakes Of Russia, Tom Hall, and Blakmoth.
