An extended player that opens a plateau of low-flying, lo-fi electronics and mysterious midnight sonic emissions.
Eusebeia (aka Seb Watts) is a new alias to these ears, and a welcomed addition to the music library after having been the closure track on the excellent Frequencies of the Mind III compilation with the vocal dust-clouds of “In the Cut.”
On Introversion, four pieces slice through minimal soundscapes that drift, fall, and ooze with ambient flurries. On “Dark Leaves” we see the artist delve into heartbeat clicks, echoes and wide open spaces making room for calm ambient strands to ebb and flow. “Phantom Fear,” on the other hand, espouses dubbier Pole-inspired vinyl static—a drenched pitter-patter beat lost somewhere in a 4/4 mist, its tranquilized sizzle keeps a slow pace, smooth and disjointed along the way. The title track, perhaps best representing Mindtrick’s dub-tempo sheen, is the pinnacle offering. Its sandblasted atmosphere, windy low-tones and Artificial Intelligence drive, stretches with underpinned beats and lucid charm. “Heightened Sense,” does just as its title suggests. The chilled, natural wildlife sounds buried deep within its windswept theme is yet another high-mark that elicits a stream of consciousness and meditative reprieve from any surface noises.
