dyLAB :: Your Fine City EP (Detroit Underground)

Seamlessly eliciting core four on the floor beats and pummeling electronics, dyLAB’s plethora of corrosive and hypnotic technoid forms are arranged flawlessly from front to back.

Your Fine City by dyLAB (aka Dylan Davis), a bleep techno EP that combines old and new school sounds, packs a punch in just five pieces. dyLAB maintains a subtle intensity throughout that makes it seem like these raw machine audio works have been simmering for years before spilling onto the dance floors of abandoned warehouses at 3am. The talented Melbourne, Australia-based musician has released tracks with a number of well-known international labels including TRAX, BWLR, Council House, Handmade Acid, New York Haunted, and Balkan with his distinctive acid and 303s flavor. “Where i wanna be” and “Keep your body hot” are two highly energetic compositions, combining heavy techno/electro with UK-style bleeps evoking early Detroit techno landscapes with a blissful pulse—perhaps an ode to the originators Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick May. Seamlessly eliciting core four on the floor beats and pummeling electronics (see “Took me by surprise”), dyLAB’s plethora of corrosive and hypnotic technoid forms are arranged flawlessly from front to back.
