Dr.Nojoke :: Muaco EP (CLIKNO)

Self-described as “guitar or acoustic techno,” Dr.Nojoke offers a three-pack of new lockdown tunes for the rather upbeat technoid spheres of Muaco—a form of “home-clubbing.”

Punctuated and overarching acoustic techno

Self-described as “guitar or acoustic techno,” Dr.Nojoke offers a three-pack of new lockdown tunes for the rather upbeat technoid spheres of Muaco—a form of “home-clubbing” as the Berlin native (Frank Bogdanowitz) described in a recent email exchange. The “clikno” genre and imprint also founded by Bogdanowitz takes elements of abstract and minimal techno and melds them with field recordings and strange electronic devices to create a surreal new landscape. The title track does this with its looping chords and guitar plucking as the harder edges of “S-Oum” grips several sharp turns in the road with vocal bits and hypnotic loops as “Dengi” dives into an organic-rich field of shuffling beats and incorporates a worldly sound as it continues to punctuate overarching techno moods. A short but sweet collection that dips into natural techno-laden experiments to kick off the new year.

Muaco is available on CLIKNO. [Bandcamp]
