Dollarstore Keyboard :: The Ghost Is Clear (Self Released)

The Ghost Is Clear presents Dollarstore Keyboard’s most expressive, mature, and subdued album to date while embarking on tranquilized electronics and beaming nostalgic flares.

An eerily intense and carefully weaved album start to finish

Written and performed as one piece that starts out pleasant and ends up really claustrophobic, The Ghost Is Clear presents Dollarstore Keyboard’s most expressive, mature, and subdued album to date while embarking on tranquilized electronics and beaming nostalgic flares.

Maintaining his own abstract sonic transmission throughout, all tracks were performed on an Elektron Digitakt—a compact sampling drum machine—and the results are intense micro-layers of dust and debris as sparse beats present themselves in fragments as evidenced on “Sine Of The Times”). “Low Crows” conjures memories from the past, its bubbling hypnotic and distressed loops ebb and flow like lost time capsules while “Lo-Sci-Fun” turns on the spotlight—and yet its bass techno luster snaps and fades within a minute and a half.

Ultimately creating transparent spirals through disheveled ambient data streams—surreal soundtracks from the upper atmosphere present themselves on The Ghost Is Clear. Highlight “After Math” vanishes into thin air as a minimal and curious hypnotic drone dithers. The title track flickers and fractures with skewed melodic bits tangled in some kind of effervescent glow. An eerily intense and carefully weaved album start to finish.
