A powerful electro release for any new or old-school fan of the genre and its strange yet alluring twists and turns.
Heavily infected broken electro and staccato beats
September 20th sees the release of CARJACK CITY Volume II – Electronic Boogaloo, a 5-track compilation on Belgium-based Roulette Rekordz with mind-bending tracks by Ben Milstein, Terens K., Aquatronics and Datawave.
Here we see heavily infected broken electro and staccato beats colliding from all angles—chiseled beats and modular encrusted rhythms take center stage as this high-energy collection doesn’t let up. With Ben Milstein’s magnetic electro assaults opening and closing this release, it’s condensed from start to end. Ben Milstein’s “Back” runs through crunchy drums and eerie sound effects as “Last Minute” could have been a sequel to Phoenecia’s “Odd Job (Rhythm Box Version)”—a blistering electro-tinged IDM classic from 1999 on Schematic Music Company. Terens K.’s “Power JRE” takes an old-school acid-electro dip with a dented 303 slithering its way through. Aquatronics’ slippery low-end bass jabs on “Hexogenic” are thick and explosive as Datawave’s “Ohm-I” ravages similar old-school acid bass notes ricocheting from abandoned warehouse walls at 3AM. A powerful electro release for any new or old-school fan of the genre and its strange yet alluring twists and turns.
