Taking us to a simpler time, a place where comfort and familiarity reside—the nostalgia of distant memories, sounds, and feelings keep our minds tuned as 4T Thieves continues to extract swirling synthesizer strains. And yet this is what the talented artist does best—blending ambient fizz-fuzz layers with BoC textured tones as evidenced immediately on the opening piece, “Cascades.”
Plunging the depths of mystery, blissful beat-laden clips and faraway sandy dunes, “Mirror of the Sky” is the answer—a highlight capturing distressed noises, tape hiss, and decayed melodies, it’s a rediscovered Polaroid photo we lost a long time ago. The title track is also a crowning achievement where petrified drums and tangled lullaby notes drift in unison, a mesmerizing sonic pathway to say the least. “Setting Sun” simplifies the landscape with its miniscule beat patches and kaleidoscope vistas. Closing with “End of Years”—you can almost visualize 4T Thieves’ rhythmic pattern come to life. The darkened mood and subtlety that surrounds this piece is one that lifts the spirit and awakens the soul. Yet another audible blur of detailed soundscapes by the Kahvi Collective label operator—an ebb and flow that simply won’t let go.
