Civik Records is a new electronic music label born out of the rolling
foothills of Calgary, Canada. Catering to collectors and electronica
junkies alike, each Civik release provides a tastey dish of both audio
and visual delights. Every release is a limited edition, split single
vinyl pressing with original artwork inserts, showcasing musicians and
artists from around the world.
Civik’s motto, Warm Melodies | Cold Beats, sums up the sound that is
associated with the label. Expect to hear soft and subtle tunes coupled
with crisp, knee-tapping beats that will keep the listener wanting more.
Many of the musicians appearing on the Civik splits, are already well
established within the scene, and have released material on other fine
labels. Civik Records strives to provide a platform from which these
musicans can work together, releasing material with meaning and emotion.
Along with each release, an original artwork insert is included. There is
no question that electronica music and graphic art go hand in hand, so
Civik decided to include artists to the roster as well as musicians. Those
chosen to contribute artwork, are treated exactly the same as the musicians
involved, sharing the work, exposure and profit, creating a truly unique and
beautiful package.
Expect great things from this label, with the first releases appearing in
2002 featuring Sense (Neo Ouija, Aural Industries), Ilkae (Merck), Xhale (Merck,
Defocus), Proswell (Monotonik, Merck) plus many more!
