Derek Piotr has a remix out on a fantastic release from America’s heartland. Chaircrusher’s OBSTINATO EP (Cornwarning) contains seven original tracks and two remixes. Chaircrusher is the long-known nom-de-synth of Iowa’s Kent Williams. In addition to being an accomplished musician, Williams is responsible for bringing some of the best-known names in electronic music to the cornbelt like Deadbeat, Kid 606 and Stewart Walker to name a few. The OBSTINATO EP is a clever collection of electronics centered around off-kilter, glitchy beats with a heavy nod towards the dancefloor. In addition to Derek Piotr’s glitched-up noisy remix, Cathode Ray Tube also provides a speed-ambient remix of the album’s title track. Fans of Aphex Twin, Richard H.
