A memorable snapshot of an era which many longtime Warp aficionados think of fondly as representing the very pinnacle of the label’s musical prowess, and for anyone wishing to delve further into Warp’s back catalog, a handy list of every WAP (singles and EPs with catalog numbers from 1 to 99) and WARP (albums with catalog numbers from 1 to 55) release up to that time was included inside the compilation’s CD booklet.

The back room of DSGN CLLCTV hosted an evening of electronic, noise, and left field music. Some of those on the bill were old friends and familiar faces from Cincinnati’s stalwart scene of experimentalists, while two of the other acts stopped by on their respective tours, to make for a memorable night.
Arquiola and Nahuel are members of Mamvt Electonics and the two brought two bags full of electronic gold. We had two hours recorded live with tracks from Aphex Twin, Berceuse Heroique, Hieroglyphic Being, Tin Man, Secret Studio Records, Wolfskuil and more.
Matmos are masters of the electronic concept album, and I was delighted that the archive in question is the plethora of “sound” albums released by the maverick founder of Folkways, Moses Asch. Beyond the concept, these glitchy, rhythmic, noisy, textural pieces are a joy to listen to and behold.
In their final instalment of the season, WE FORFEIT dug deep into their collections to pluck out some old favorites, recent acquisitions and all-round top tracks.
This mix is compiled with past and future music from the New York based record label Artificial Owl Recordings.
The Magic Carpathians Project have released a number of enchanting albums and recordings since 1998, but Khemia, from 2019, is perhaps their most transformative. It pairs well when listened to back-to-back with the new 2024 release Alchemeia from the ever prolific Scanner.

Writing music for netlabels has been a main focus for my projects. My own netlabel, Treetrunk Records, focuses on music composed using alternative techniques. I have also extensively released on netlabels such as Webbed Hand, Petroglyph Music, Camembert Electrique, and others. As my goals became more proportional, I let go of my desire to make music mainly for profit.
If we love anything here at WE FORFEIT, it’s the blind following of ritual and tradition. With this in mind, the lads roped in their good mates Mora and Leonid for the yearly pilgrimage to the Radio Relativa studio to get some recording done.
