Under Tangled Silence is a lost album that has been found, a reconstructed work made whole from fragments. Born in pain, the collection is a triumph of Djrum’s musicality and his tireless effort to revive and reimagine what was gone. An immensely absorbing and original work, an accomplishment of desire and dexterity.
As ever, Kernkrach have unearthed an artist of enviable talent. El Pesado Silencio is an album that illustrates Nublo Roboten’s range and style, contemporary synth-pop that is produced with a sureness of expression and a deftness of touch.
Electronic music still loves the industrial estate. At least in Spain it does.
sewer sender continues, despite its end, to be an expression; an expression of friendship, of emotion and of music. The final chapter of this “novella” may have come to a close, but the sounds that were crafted by the contributors will continue into the infinite.
As the Spring draws in, the music keeps flowing here at WE FORFEIT. For this month, we have a label we love. We have Gated Recordings. Founded in 2019 by DJ Node and Jadey Smith, Gated has become an imprint of serious intent in the world of electronic music.
Magnetic showcases Luxus Varta and his ever-developing sound. Constructing the sextet, elements of breaks and electronica are folded into his overarchingly electro sound. Dark tones and clever compositions from an artist garnering deserved attention from both labels and listeners alike.
Monolake explores the earth and the heavens as well as man’s place in them, their soundtrack being sculpted with daring simplicity to achieve complexity and intricacy of expression and form.
It is wonderful to see YUYAY back releasing. It is a label that has always sought out eclectic and open styles, refusing genre pigeonholes in its pursuit of lesser heard music. XY0815’s This Tool Has No Options is a sure expression of this mandate. An LP that took its cue from the past with tracks that will undoubtedly continue to sound fresh for years to come.
Despite the black matter of the eight tracks, the floor is not forgotten with the Leipzig outfit delivering some angular and angry body music amongst their lancing electro and psychological experiments. A soundtrack for the world we, somehow, find ourselves in.
A few weeks back, we were lucky enough to share the booth with the always excellent Neud Photo. Robbie hopped on the train and made it by the skin of his teeth to Luv Bar where the pair served some a cocktail of electro, new beat and even some Italo.
The holiday season is upon us. The cold has arrived on Madrid’s city streets and to combat it WE FORFEIT have gathered together two hours of sizzling electronics to warm the cockles.
