Rooted firmly in solid electro beats
What do you call Datacrashrobot? Consistently walking the line between IDM and electro, there’s not really a lot of other artists occupying that niche. Datacrashrobot is an experimental-electro project by Romania-based Sorin Paun that started at the beginning of 2008—he’s worked under many names as a highly visual musician/artist, and also goes under the Randomform moniker. The palette for Embedded System consists of similar elements to glitch, drill’n bass and breakcore, but the arrangements are far from the wild spraying of beats and sound you’ll find there. Datacrashrobot’s tracks are rooted firmly in solid electro beats, funky, repetitive, and absolutely Detroit electro. Although you can hear an occasional riff of distorted electro synths, overall the melodies tend towards the much deeper end of the spectrum. The mood of the album is upbeat and thoughtful, and although synths and percussive patterns occasionally veer into Autechre’s territory, the vibe is entirely unique.
