Room Of Wires :: Asylum Sneaker EP (Section 27)

Traversing a wide spectrum of broken electronic forms, Room Of Wires is definitely one to watch if Asylum Sneaker is any indication of what’s to come.

Room Of Wires—a UK duo who have never actually met—admittedly is a new outfit to these ears and Asylum Sneaker kicks off their account on Section 27 with an erratic-emotive punch. Five tracks of grit and grout, there are fragile melodic moments intermixed with gauzy low rumbling noise.

Toytronic Records comes to mind via “Overtones,” an arching and cinematic explosion of harmony, percussion and nostalgic speed bumps. “Train Jacker” emits a dark exploratory breakbeat flare, its screeching synth work and crunching bass is a heavy hitting sonic boom. “Helmand Sky” forges through subatomic bass and pristine bits and bobs, a turbulent electronic mass that rattles the senses. Asylum Sneaker excels through its emphasis on blurring the lines between organized noise as noted on the ambient swell of “Dead Skins” where a shoegaze aura blankets a swarm of eroded beats. The title track ventures into blips and bleeps, shifting through downtempo glitch-hop branches, the likes of classic Scorn and Witchman immediately come to mind.

Traversing a wide spectrum of broken electronic forms, Room Of Wires is definitely one to watch if Asylum Sneaker is any indication of what’s to come. Dipping into the past yet firmly ensconced in the now.

Asylum Sneaker is available on Section 27.
