Across four tracks steeped in acid-drenched techno and breaks-infused electro, Hall explores the fringes where IDM subtleties and off-kilter rhythms coalesce.

Where punchy, Detroit-inflected techno collides with gritty electro textures, Practical Optimism marks the long-awaited debut of Annie Hall (aka Ana Artalejo Moreno) on Delsin. Having built an impressive sonic resume since 2005 with releases on labels like Tresor, 2020 Vision, Detroit Underground, Semantica, and Central Processing Unit, Hall now delivers a focused and dynamic statement of intent. Across four tracks steeped in acid-drenched techno and breaks-infused electro, Hall explores the fringes where IDM subtleties and off-kilter rhythms coalesce. From the kinetic opener “Divergent Thinker” to the relentless drive of “Managing Nothing,” her sound is at once cerebral and physical. “Ability to Multitask” stands out with its shimmering melodic flair, while the closing title track tunnels through bleeps, analog grit, and body-moving basslines—offering a heady, groove-laden finale that demands repeat plays.
