V/A :: Reticle Remixes Pt 1 (Patterned Media)

Share this ::

Patterned Media returns with the first installment of a two-part remix compilation— b0t23 + inoperative system, Reticle Remixes Pt. 1 with remixes from across the pond by Senmove (Spain), Roel Funcken (Netherlands), Adrien d’Elzius (Belgium), and Hexalyne (Romania). Album art by b0t23.

The original collaboration was between producer inoperative system (Diego Ruiz) from Málaga, Spain and b0t23 from Portland, Oregon (Beau Crouch). Now these sounds have been transmitted many more miles and morphed into new creations. When Patterned Media sent out a request for some of their favorite artists to remix tracks from b0t23 + inoperative system—Reticle EP—they did not know what to expect. What they received were some great submissions and they’re happy to finally share them.

This 4 track remix EP starts with Senmove, another producer from inoperative system’s home of Spain, who shares a composition that is reminiscent of glitchy, chopped-up trip-hop akin to productions on Bedroom Research, Merck, and Schematic. Then one of our favorite artists, Roel Funcken—with an amazingly expansive remix of “Simplo,” features great basslines, a halftime feel, and shifting beats. Adrien D’Elzius delivers a polished-up remix of the track “Target,” locking into a dark groove with acid lines, deep bass, and tight percussion. Hexalyne designed a distorted electro glitch track that progresses through various rhythms all vying for attention, coming together with ambient washes and introspective textures. The EP is mastered by Ben Milstein.
