Pummeling percussive onslaughts, post-industrial glitch extracts, and condensed data processing seem to be the focal point, while Dragon’s persistent and futuristic audio/visual scope operates at the highest level.
Engaged and condensed electronics without filler
With a slew of fidgeting electronic fragments, Sonance Manifold sees Dragon expanding soundscapes with a flurry of beat heavy tracks for Point Source Electronic Arts—an established imprint that keeps a solid trajectory of next-level sonic sculptors at the forefront. The mood is darker than faint shadows of extraterrestrial life forms migrating to the fore, its soundtrack displayed here succinctly. Pummeling percussive onslaughts, post-industrial glitch extracts, and condensed data processing seem to be the focal point, while Dragon’s persistent and futuristic audio/visual scope operates at the highest level.
As an avid listener of abstract electronic music since the early 90s, and seeing its development over decades, it’s still refreshing to hear new perspectives where artists like Autechre (and their Gescom collaborative outfit), Richard Devine, Gridlock/Dryft, Funkstörung, to newer iterations like Quinoline Yellow (now Mantle of Gets), Hecq, exm, Enabl.ed (et al) set the stage for generations of talent to evolve and recreate.
Predominantly minimal in its construct, Sonance Manifold is a chiseled and avant-garde foray into the roaring 20s of the experimental electronic music scene and stands out considering the clustered avalanche of releases pouring in. Highlights include “Syrynx,” “Loop Emit,” “9732,” “Different Visions,” and “Time Pool.” Engaged and condensed electronics without filler.
