Sparks ricochet from all angles

There’s something primitive and raw featured on Anti Argolla Peruana, something arcane, disjointed, and elemental. Wilder Gonzales Agreda taps into sporadic sonic spaces, one filled with a plethora of electrical debris, tiny melodic bursts, and all the while, weaving his way through crackling computer blips and technoid flutter. These darker shades brush up against lighter sound sources, and they take shape because of the Peruvian’s noted “experiences in Lima Norte and a passion for advanced sounds that have haunted him since the 90s.” Agreda dives into and out of brittle bits and bytes where sparks ricochet from all angles; reminding us of earlier Mille Plateaux productions from the likes of Oval, Terre Thaemlitz, Snd etc al, yet with a much more upfront and fractured musique concrète feel. Abstract concepts literally pop and break into hundreds of pieces. Highlights form via “Sirenas,” “Tenjira,” and closure “1994.”
