There’s something magnetic, somehow fully charged, and buzzing here. Eight tracks of densely layered electronics and crunchy noises wrapping rhythmic distortion courtesy of the ever-talented Myoptik (aka Richard Wilkes). “Ventonraze Rhythmatallia” presents all of the above and then some—fidgety machines let loose to captivate the senses, this track alone has enough fuel to propel the entire album and spans just over 12-minutes of left-field gritty breaks.

Myoptik has a way of engaging the mind with ultra unique soundscapes and strangely alluring tones and drones that come across as alien but ultimately submerge themselves into the subconscious with ease—listen to “Beautiarn Isofecs,” as a prime example. As the album dips and dives into a smorgasbord of creative escapades, its tracks like “Symten 19” that provide epic journeys through time, and at over 13-minutes, the busy soundtrack world that Myoptik is able to draw upon is simply astounding.

While IDM has seen an array of musicians focused on designing their own groove, Myoptik is content to just do what he does best and take any trajectory that feels comfortable to him; even if it’s beautifully arcane or nonlinear electronics. After all, he’s been at it since the 90s, and nothing is stopping him now. As the Wilkes’ states in the liner notes, Eat At The Dining Table of the Vibrating Sting is “a world of sound.”

Note the remix companion featuring Pingdiscs allstars including Inkipak, Roy Of The Ravers, Idiac, The Horn, Tarsiform, Misterben and Data Out, plus an exclusive new track from Myoptik. The album is available digitally, or as part of a bundle with the new handcrafted, magnetic 3-inch Pingdiscs Plaquettes.
