Pascal Savy :: Fragments (Hibernate)

The air crackles and as the end approaches, so do footsteps, crunching the surface of the snow—another ruddy-cheeked traveler coming to warm himself inside.

Pascal Savy 'Fragments'

Pascal Savy Pascal Savy‘s Fragments are remarkably warm for all the time they’ve spent out in the cold. A relative newcomer to ambient composition, Savy sprinkles flakes of guitar and gently processes field recordings in his laptop. “Passing Light” moves sideways in the half-light of a winter afternoon, while beyond the trees and the humming, deep-bodied drone of “By Dusk,” a river rushes by. “On Leaving” is as melancholy the title might suggest, though Savy focuses on what has been left behind, some lonely outpost in the woods, standing stoic as the wind rattles its eaves. The air crackles and as the end approaches, so do footsteps, crunching the surface of the snow—another ruddy-cheeked traveler coming to warm himself inside. Savy’s other recent three-inch disc—Liminal on FeedbackLoop—makes for a fine companion.
