Experimental Electronic Music
Most ingredients are well known, but it’s the ingenuity with which they are married into one homogenous alloy that makes Anemoia not simply a standout IDM piece in terms of production proficiency and storytelling, but an important milestone in the history of modern electronic music in general and, for me, a present and future classic.
Taken as a whole, Full Spectrum 3 reinforces a broader point about contemporary electronic music. It isn’t stagnant, nor is it repeating itself. What it offers instead is a constantly expanding field of practice—one that often exists outside obvious distribution channels, away from mainstream radio, commercial television, or algorithm-led discovery feeds.
Full Spectrum, a perplexing assemblage put together by Richie Welch, includes beautiful and colorful artwork by Matt Hampshire (Pulse State), distinctive mastering by exm, and a start and conclusion without any fuel loss along the way.
Heimferd is an overflowing sonic stream that simply pulls on the heartstrings, gently plucking away in the background, not making too much of a fuss, and containing just enough momentum and emotional fuel to keep us drawn in.
Adykt is representative of the continuous growth of experimental electronic music and where it can take us, the listener. And for all those beautifully disjointed sonic shapes and forms that engulf us, Dyadik remains on the right track.
