Heimferd is an overflowing sonic stream that simply pulls on the heartstrings, gently plucking away in the background, not making too much of a fuss, and containing just enough momentum and emotional fuel to keep us drawn in.
A powerful and peaceful musical collection permeating the air and soil
February 10th saw the release of this quaint collaboration between Mikael Fyrek and Weldroid, featuring slight alterations by 4T Thieves, Mitoma, Keiss, Murya and Abdicant. A half-dozen tracks set to harmonize and quantify their originals; we last discovered HRYM on their fantastic Organik full length with Dyadik / Touched Music in 2020.
Electronica in exquisite form, brightly polished melodies traverse nuanced low-end rhythmic tones (thanks to 4T Thieves via “Triplicated III”)—a highlight of the batch. As ambient realms are explored, the title track, remixed by HRYM themselves, is an engaged downtempo contrast to the original microscopic, pop-infused, technoid trajectory. Murya’s “Triplicated II Remix” is as sublime as they come; delicate daffodil petals sway in the wind this late winter and early spring, an emotive and serene ebb and flow from the highest plateaus. The subdued clicks and cuts strewn throughout Abdicant vs HRYM’s “Enemy Within” is a swirling maze of drones and soft, pitter-patter beats grabbing for our attention. Miniscule sparks are ignited on Mitoma’s “03×7 Remix,” a calming, slightly acidic sojourn that provides just enough experimental inertia to keep the mind engaged while Keiss’s “Heimferd Remix” shimmies down flickering, organic, and minimal drum patterns submerged in a thick fog.
