Across 2025, hundreds of releases surfaced, with December granted space to settle. From that sweep emerged a carefully shaped collection of favorites, each paired with links to Igloo reviews and release pages. Arrangement follows artist names in alphabetical order, while a snapshot of tracks lives on our Soundcloud playlist, joined by random artwork highlights. No crowns, no rankings, no runners-up—only records that resonated.
Descending before it ascends, The Loneliness of the Hollow Earth Explorer, Vol. II finds Arrowounds guiding the listener through ancestral caves and bioluminescent mines, a solitary, ritualistic journey where subterranean sound becomes a passage through hidden worlds, ancient time, and the haunted inner depths.
Arrowounds delivers the music, magic and mystery, solidifying the esoteric energies emanated from the underworld into the medium of this album. It’s a perfect soundtrack for getting lost in the labyrinthine depths waiting to be discovered beneath the surface of everyday Ohio and Kentucky.
Behind ’t Gerius is Belgian sound-wrangler, Daniel, who’s hit on a hermetic audioworld at once delicate and distorted, refined and uncouth; sound seen as if through a glass blurrily, yet sharply—alive with microsound like a fungi forest close-up.
After covering several hundred releases in 2022, many notables—including links to their respective Igloo reviews or release pages—are cataloged here. As usual, there are no winners or runners-up as the lists are alphabetized by artist and selected tracks are featured on our Soundcloud playlist.
The tracks are brief but they’re also snapshots of sheer elegance and as such, their length is therefore arguably perfect from a qualitative perspective as they make you want to listen again and again.
