When The Tear Garden released their first single “A Return” late this summer, it was clear they were back in full force. The song’s ecstatic promise and lush synthesis between cEvin Key’s pulsing rhythms and Edward Ka-Spel’s visionary lyrics signaled the long-awaited return of their singular experimental magic.
A new single from The Tear Garden is like a signal from beyond—dark, dreamy, and full of promise. With Astral Elevator arriving October 24th on Artoffact Records, cEvin Key and Edward Kaspel prove they haven’t lost their edge. This track’s pulsing bass, eerie synths, and vivid lyrics capture the spirit of their early work while hinting at something new—and it’s got me ready for the full trip.
One can only hope more material to remix will be unearthed and that Western’s musical legacy will find further incarnations such as this collective masterpiece. Throughout the record, Western’s uncanny knack for pure invention shines through, guiding us along one more late night journey of blissful inner exploration.
This is a psychedelic industrial trip—very diverse, organic and holistic, showing us the perfect combination of Key’s sound sculptures, Fulber’s arrangements and Leeb’s melodies and vocals.
There is something about Skinny Puppy that is tribal. It’s like they were able to draw something out of the terroir of the land they grew up and lived on and infused that Cascadian vibe into the music.
Fans of Skinny Puppy will find familiar tones and traits within while electro heads, classic, and modern industrialists will also enjoy the sound and feel of Resonance.
