Voxish :: Stickum in the Slipwave (People Can Listen)

Voxish ultimately extracts non-linear glitch rhythms morphed with electrical collisions in an assemblage of sporadic sounds and voices from the outer edges. Crunchy and creative.

Warping sound space

Voxish (aka Adam Ralph) unleashes Stickum in the Slipwave, an eight pack attack on the ears. Warping sound space from pseudo Funkstörung and Mouse On Mars stylings (“Mynsh reach” and “The Querulist”) to chilled ambient downtempo strings such as “Uretic” and “Further”—which also introduce tangled vocal elements. There are some calmer moments taking us back to earlier Tobias Lilja slivers (“Suth”); but it’s when Voxish dives full throttle into these curious experiments that the album really makes a shift. “Yneah” samples a myriad of voices; looping them together in a strange sonic brew with minuscule melodies flickering in the background as the dark, brooding synth washes of “I.A.W.S.” and its bizarre whispering voices could possibly be heard in an Aphex Twin set (if not tucked in between as an interlude.) Voxish ultimately extracts non-linear glitch rhythms morphed with electrical collisions in an assemblage of sporadic sounds and voices from the outer edges. Crunchy and creative.
