Full of razor-sharp digital processing and trickery

Another quality release from IDM veteran soldier label n5MD, this from Vcam who just recently dropped Arconide. Where Arconide was warm and fuzzy with an early-90s vibe, this album comes from a darker, more current incarnation of the genre. The sonic palette is cold, abstract, noisy, and industrial—full of razor-sharp digital processing and trickery. Although some tracks are quite melancholic, many revel in a certain groovy, rhythmic atonal style as well. Vcam for his part does not seem to be so much evolving as just drawing us further along a tour of his vast zoo of ideas. Fans of Pan Sonic, Autechre and Phoenecia (et al) will absolutely enjoy this, and at his current rate maybe we can hope to see more exhibits soon.

Cycle is available on n5MD. [Bandcamp]
