Despite appearing to be downtempo in nature, Uomo Meccanico’s collection is powerful and beautifully crafted; featuring old-school electronica, brittle rhythms, and classic breaks.
A well-rounded and blissful voyage
Nicola Altieri, also known as Uomo Meccanico (The Mechanical Man) has released music on several labels including Denied Area, Bosconi Extra Virgin, Ghetto Rhythms, Shimmering Moods, and now Móatún 7 with his sophomore release. Confusi ma Felici (translating to Confused but Happy) offers seven tracks that range from (new) electronica/techno of the mid to late 90s (“Divieti di Parcheggio”) to beautiful ambient spheres (“Accuminciamm.”) “In Temi Brevi,” which explores darker technoid avenues, gives Altieri space to develop expressive, pulsating, acid-tinged minimal techno. Similar ideas continue on the delectable “Noi persone Umili,” where synth strands sway in the background as tinier melodic and acidic bubbles burst. Despite appearing to be downtempo in nature, Uomo Meccanico’s collection is powerful and beautifully crafted; featuring old-school electronica, brittle rhythms, and classic breaks. A well-rounded and blissful voyage.
