This aptly-titled album quite literally splits open to reveal its sheared tectonic plates, slicing and dicing blips and bleeps to their extreme breaking point and simply doesn’t look back.
Slicing and dicing blips and bleeps to their extreme breaking point
There’s such an expanse of ideas available to electronic music producers and equipment/software to match them that I always find pleasure in the discovery stage each time a new release lands and where said artist(s) will take their sound. Here we find Tewksbury, Massachusetts-based Ukuphambana (aka Chris Castiglione) unleash all manner of electrical mayhem from loosened braindance, acid-drenched workouts, technoid soundscapes, broken video game soundtracks, synthetic industrial rhythms, fractured breaks, detuned drum patterns, all-around scorched drone undercurrents and an abstract assortment of found sounds layered one above the other. This aptly-titled album quite literally splits open to reveal its sheared tectonic plates, slicing and dicing blips and bleeps to their extreme breaking point and simply doesn’t look back. A strangely captivating album that fans of early IDM-beat manglers like AFX, Colongib and Eight Frozen Modules will easily gravitate towards.
