SND’s second full length release might surprise those familiar with Makesnd
Cassette (also on Mille Plateaux), as they seem to be quietly diversifying,
bringing in more obvious grooves and even the occasional tune. Nothing here
could be mistaken for anyone but SND, but each track has more of a distinctive
flavour, as opposed to the almost total uniformity of previous releases.
Consistency intact, I personally welcome the variety. While often beautiful,
snd’s tracks are so minimal and repetitive in themselves, that a whole album
of one flavour is just exhausting, if not utterly redundant.
