Sixty /ˈsɪk.sti/ is a testament to Analogical Force‘s knack for curating musical magic, serving as both a “sonic time capsule and a forward-looking statement” that we’ll continue to revisit again and again.

To celebrate their 60th release, sixty /ˈsɪk.sti/ sees Analogical Forcea voice for the voiceless—unleash a monumental compilation (3×12″ — 17 tracks) that embodies the label’s mission to plunge into explosive braindance and diverse electronics. After over three decades of IDM branching into countless sub-genres, its core essence remains: to push “idiosyncratic experimentation” and explore new shapes and forms through collaborations with like-minded artists across the cosmic spectrum. Analogical Force doesn’t just participate in this sonic adventure; they lead the charge with fragmented soundscapes carved with precision and clarity.

Seventeen tracks of intricate electronics take the listener on a whirlwind trajectory, and I was pleasantly caught off guard when Novel 23‘s “Blink Run Away To East” appeared on the track list. It harks back to the (nostalgic) early days of Benbecula‘s Music Volume series—specifically Volume 1—which originally featured this brittle and blissful Russian laser-blasting groove. Now remastered, the track is in great company with contributions from artists like Nagara, who evoke a very similar vibration, as “Weeping_Ob” casts its own reflective nod to the past.

Throughout the compilation, artists such as Alberta Balsam, RTR, Voiron, and Oeta construct futuristic landscapes with off-kilter breaks and funky electronics. Broken beats and expansive spaces blend with contributions from Frederic, Microlith, Fasme, and Mr. 76ix, while Gherat, Oh Mr James, and James Shinra weave melodic threads into blissful orchestrations.

Not shying away from downtempo, glitch, and distorted electronics, with standout contributions from Patricia, Rolando Simmons, M.E.R.S ft. LBH Di Vegas, Meta Program, and Qeta, Sixty /ˈsɪk.sti/ is a testament to Analogical Force’s knack for curating musical magic, serving as both a “sonic time capsule and a forward-looking statement” that we’ll continue to revisit again and again.
