second seasons :: Parse, Care (Errorgrid)

A fascinating study of what happens when you apply Autechre levels of technology to making more directly accessible but still experimental beats.

A very uncompromising and extreme release

Somewhere between a full album and an EP, Parse, Care is a fascinating study of what happens when you apply Autechre levels of technology to making more directly accessible but still experimental beats. Although still a very uncompromising and extreme release by the Brooklyn based audiovisual artist and electroacoustic musician, the beats and rhythms swerve more into the funky side, than the intentionally obfuscated cerebral—visit opening track “Vale” and its abstract glitch-hop versus shapeshifting vocals. The tones and melodies, while often a bit strange and dissonant, still want to form accessible musical structures for you. A definite must-listen for fans of Autechre (ref. “Spektr-L”), Richard Devine (ref. “Cn.325”), Brothomstates (ref. “Grd Stch”), et al. Wild and varied, abstract—it’s in some ways the missing piece to a fusion of non-commercialized dubstep (that never happened) and fractured IDM.
