In a fascinating twist on the audio-destruction tactics usually employed in DSP-shred-style IDM, 0.syx brings something almost accessible that could very nearly fit the definition of ‘pop‘. Over the course of four heavily bent and twisted tracks of irregular, skittering rhythms and almost-discordant synths awash in layers of effects, you get a pretty upbeat and sometimes very funky and groovy EP. Never quite letting itself settle into anything too coherent, the tracks constantly morph and change, but all of them seem to keep coming back to the same sweet poppy center.
