Four Swedish artists on one album of minimal dub techno. Three
established artists and one rookie. Andreas Tilliander, who has
released albums on Mille Plateaux, Raster-Noton and Komplott,
provides the first track: the 15 minute long Downer, a
masterpiece of slow, noisy dub. Grecl follows with four comparatively
short tracks in the click+cuts vein, faster and more prominent bass
lines. After Grecl comes one lovely tune by Silent Comfort, also
known as Bauri and Deltidseskapism, etc. Sc-2 takes its time
to build an extremely nice atmosphere, a juxtaposition between
determined and vague elements at the same time. Lastly, two tracks
from label boss himself, Mikael Stavöstrand, who previously have
released albums on Staalplaat and Force Inc. His tracks are the most
diffuse on the compilation, and have a lot in common with Vladislav
Delay’s slow works.
Reslab is a must have for anyone into labels such as Basic
Channel, ~scape or Mille Plateaux.
