Rachiid Paralyzing :: Unbearable Lightness (Kaer’Uiks)

Visceral soundscapes that evolve and overflow

Unbearable Lightness reveals Rachiid Paralyzing’s adeptness for mangled glitch bits and hardened acid squelched audio science as the opening piece “Seres (Heavy Hearted Mix)” displays accurately. But there’s something bearable among these seven pieces that merit thorough listening.

The visceral soundscapes that evolve and overflow are packed with mechanical gears operating at full capacity (“Insoportable”) that it’s hard to catch your breath if not for a few fleeting seconds as we’re pummeled with low-end thudding beats. And the mood doesn’t really slow down as this EP progresses either—the hypnotic patterns of “PIA (Prefiero Intentar Again)” loop through tangled industrial avenues, its robotic groove locked in.

As “Celaje 2 (Paralyzing Collection)” is perhaps the eclipsing moment—there’s a frenetic pace at which Rachiid Paralyzing emits consistently broken electronics that are tightly wound up. And just when you thought all melody was lost surrounding these pieces, “Estamos Tristes” offers its mangled cybernetic voyage as “Parker (for Diana)” closes with beatless bewilderment—an epic in and of itself. An otherworldly closure of floating ambient crystallization and scattered emotion—this closing track pulls the listener through a serene landscape we didn’t know was there to begin with. Baffling, surreal, and intoxicating.
