Dimitar Dodovski is an active, innovative and eclectic DIY artist and sound designer whose work has been produced on a handful of indy net labels as physical and digital editions. Private Mountain is his new experimental adventure in collaboration with Toni Dimitrov, an electronic sound designer whose style converges on field recordings, downtempo and smoothly ambient territories.
STRATUMI (СТРАТУМИ) is a great follow-up to their first collaborative effort published a year ago on Neotantra titled Blue Mountain. This new release is welcomed by the alternative and underground music label Elan Vital. This appears to be one conceptually and musically engaging album, dealing with biopolitics, anthropological transformations linked to the actual global crisis and to the emergence of new planetary dilemmas that drive new tools to understand the ontological conditions of social life, networking communication, transcultural solidarity, spatial horizon, expansionism, seismic events and geopolitical collapse.
Thus, the music admits a vast and immersive emotional dive in decaying cinematic splendor and reflective droning baths, cultivating a sorrowing feeling of nostalgia, existential doubts about our future with hints of hope and salvation. The musical components beautifully interact around juxtaposed motifs and exquisitely flowing sequences of vaporous drones, fragmented instrumental melodious lines (obtained from echoing, broken, prepared piano sequences and e-guitar tricks) processed noisy sounds taken from green field regardings, meteorologic explorations and abandoned urban structures.
