Planet Supreme :: Rule from the Dark Mountain (Cryo Chamber)

A spaced-out synth odyssey that infiltrates the human psyche for a long immersive and neuronal-astral voyage to the confines, visiting alien worlds and colonies, menacing landscapes.

Ghostly, hostile and lunar territories

Planet Supreme is a relatively new project but nonetheless an interesting one to consider in the dark ambient pantheon. It was formed by Swedish-based sound-designer Karl Rydby. It is the second release welcomed by key indie/modern day subterranean ambient music label Cryo Chamber. Embracing the dark path of spacey intergalactic electronic music with dense electronic scintillations, reverbed drone-scapes and amorphously sinuous synth pads. The burgeoning and rumbling synthesized qualities of the album invite the listener to some ghostly, hostile and lunar territories.

A spaced-out synth odyssey that infiltrates the human psyche for a long immersive and neuronal-astral voyage to the confines, visiting alien worlds and colonies, menacing landscapes. There’s also a feeling of retro-ish cosmic synthedelica flows; notably reminiscent to releases from Innovative Communication and the 70s Berlin school of electronic music. The album has its chilling moments, following a consistent sonic pathway—generally, we noticed a more achieved direction than the previous release, Creation of a Star (Cryo Chamber, 2021). A recommended home-listening soundtrack while reading anticipation sci-fi metaphysical novels about the future of our (post)humanity, notably by Murray Leinster, Robert Heinlein, and Brian Aldiss.
