Our journeys into space remind us to look up and stay curious
Strange prog rock tinged ambient electronic music that captures much of the experience of being in space, each track is a unique haunting melody, a jeweled glass music box to explore. Space travel is glamorous. The feeling of floating and bouncing around without gravity captures much of the imagination, there are nine journeys into the dark infinity of space, covered with distant star clusters and galaxies. I hear a very idiosyncratic language of unmistakable electronic beeps, tocks and ticks, constructed of weaving intricate nimble rapid cyclic interactions. A clockwork of multiple interacting moving parts, with engaging craftsmanship and a polished presentation.
Here on Earth, our journeys into space remind us to look up and stay curious. World creating music makes cosmic galactic travel go smoothly, the machines are built to run forever, in pursuit of intimate lunar mysteries, to break through the light barriers, and search for life among the stars.

Opening with a melody from outer space, bearing a melodic easy tempo, mysterious, fast and pleasant, “Bendophonic” (7:15) builds into upbeat frisky and color-rich flocks of electronic birds, the speed of lots of voices combines as one message, slowly things are starting to get dark. The bright blue sky quickly turns pitch black as we climb higher.
The orchestra awakens in a new galaxy ::
The bass brings us in slow and low, followed with electronic snaps and buzzy drones, the layers build, a keyboard sets up the framework and away we go, “Phase” (5:18). Tricky percussion percolates in like cocoa, I hear sinister steps behind me, casting long gloomy shadows haunting desolate and dark, I am enjoying the ride, now it ends. The orchestra awakens in a new galaxy, “Still Unknown” (4:26), always calling out, seeking a signal in return, forming a jammin’ bass percussion line revealing visions from outer space, an old ceremonial contemplative ritual that takes centuries to repeat. Perhaps a strange question hangs in the melody. Engines shut off and you instantly float, moving in several dimensions like flying. Opening like an almost forgotten television series, “Persistence” (5:17) brings lots of moving parts that fit together and create a cyclic pattern that evolves and adds new dimensions as it goes. The immense spiral gyre comes overflowing into the shoreline, with lots of details and layered repetition, humans are learning how to live and work in space. “Patience” (6:30) starts slow, a spider web of moonlight, playing on spiral glass bowls dark with roses and silver, genty struck ringing bell glass objects, a dance finish, very sparse and swooning in places.
Astronauts often spend extended amounts of time in space, always to pave the way for even longer, future exploration missions. After riding across the night sky forever, “Fullmoon” (7:02) paints a picture. The moonlight now has more colors than just silver, but the picture started with silver, honoring the children of the night. Here there are all kinds of colors and a choppy moist energetic beat holding strong all through the track. It seems that they come from the sky, with complex weaving layers of beat and melodic themes being ground quite finely. These repeating cycles add new beeps and buzzing strangesounds that change, new strangesounds held on the same rhythm as one flow, slowly turning in the hall of mirrors, “Soundwise” (5:17). We are making some dreamy dark distance as the machine beats and bips along, weaving its patterns with plenty of mysterious electronic atmospheric details.
With many a light-year to go tonight, tonight feels different. “Tonight” (5:22) breaks out with chimes followed by a strong bass, a triumphant journey into percussive synergy, with some tight jams and electronic voices answering and calling. Now I hear little dancing robots with period costumes, perhaps telling another story about another night in another place and it fits tonight here at last. The climax, “Octo” (7:08) opens with a question posed by an electronic voice. I do not know what it is saying in the icy darkness. I hear a buzzy beat box click in, which takes the ever cycling helix pattern in a strong new direction, into another new hall of mirrors. Somehow, midway things drop out. We drift for a moment, but ultimately the ride continues forever, nothing changes anymore, we just cycle and look into infinity all around.
