A complicated and nourishing interweaving of elements, the healing creative development continues, layering and recounting the paths, dreaming becomes a way to the new home.

Rich with cinematic fullness

Rich with cinematic fullness, listening to Nouveau Départ, the curtains are opening and here we go, into an immersive orchestral keyboard world of movie magic, electronics as well as acoustic instruments such as flutes, percussion, and pianos. Everything comes together perfectly, I think the story is that we are going to leave home, or we have just left home, or something is ending, and this is also a new start.

Warm refreshing strings emerge and flow into a rich symphonic atmosphere, a regal air and honored presence, “Nouveau départ” (5:15). A slowly growing intensity, rising and expanding, somehow soaring forever. A piano catches on and takes over, “L’éveil” (6:19) awakening, slow stirring. The melodic pattern unfolds and sways, spiraling. I am searching for eternal youth.

We have traveled a long distance to this new world, good god what have we done?

“Traversée” (6:04), gently crossing patterns with melodic tendrils settling, melting, rumbling on powerful beams. “Transformation” (4:29) evokes a piano spirit, a haunting theme, perhaps a clock with a ghost to guide the way, a sense of cinematic trust blending in time, on time. I have often thought that if it should ever be my privilege to become a ghost I would enlighten the poor, benighted denizens of the earth as to how I did it, the track is “Compassion” (3:45), the sound is sweet and light, happy-sad, from one to another, sustaining quiet strength and comfort. “Guérison” (8:17) starts with rapid tempo ornate melodic patterns, flute layers and synth drones always building and expanding the foundation, a complicated and nourishing interweaving of elements, the healing creative development continues, layering and recounting the paths, dreaming becomes a way to the new home.

Ocoeur is the moniker that French producer Franck Zaragoza uses to perform, record, and release his electronic/ambient compositions. Zaragoza was born in 1988 in Bruges, France, and began learning piano and music in his youth. His influences are vast; however, he mainly culls his inspiration from classical music, movies, and soundtracks. He has also sighted artists such as Vangelis, Boards of Canada, and Moby as influences. Zaragoza’s music is minimalist, introspective, and immersive, with a penchant for dreamlike and cinematic sounds. His works come wrapped in concept and can embody either experimental/electronic glitch textures and meticulous sound design or neo-classical, focusing on more intimate, dynamic, and organic atmospheres. Since 2013, Ocoeur has been releasing albums with the n5MD record label and has been composing for video games and documentaries.

Nouveau Départ is available on n5MD. [Bandcamp | Site]
