Downtempo soundscapes from the upper atmosphere

Molez plugs away at downtempo soundscapes from the upper atmosphere with the two track Mólobdén EP clocking in at around eight blissful minutes—a very worthwhile dip into tranquil grooves and sparse melodic notes colliding with dense percussion. “Nittát” opens with flowing beat patches that ebb and flow among drifting ambient flutter, a track that could go on for an eternity. “Lencium” delves into the trenches, its noisier outer shell exposed to the elements. Synthesizers at full humming power, the rhythm snaps and sizzles harking back to earlier electronic music elements. All the bells and whistles at full throttle, “Lencium” is the sound of the future’s past, both bustling and brittle, a cascading and kaleidoscope of color and texture that’s mind bending. Mólobdén feels like a teaser for additional productions in the horizon, perhaps? I definitely hope so, as Molez registers high on our radar.
