A summer solstice dedicated album that traverses ethereal, dreamlike, calming soundscapes and visual/audio escapes—venturing through world sounds and ambient peripherals that transcend time and space. Traditional instruments and textured atmospheric notes drift in the margins, guitar strings plucked ever so gently as to guide us into warm summer days and nights where tranquilized drones and tones flutter about in sweet harmony. Sun Instead of Head captures these moments lost in the distance, gauzy and translucent sound structures cascading in the background and yet transmitting surreal and organic aural passages we weren’t expecting with lightly plucked bits and pieces. Downtempo and psychedelic jazz interludes provide just enough oomph and distraction to keep us occupied, and within these ten serene soundtracks, there’s something captivating, perhaps even hypnotic, giving us a comforting musical escape from day-to-day noise.
