Similar to Richard Devine’s industrial synth-mechanics mixed with the rhythmic crunch-hop of Gescom, lifeisfeedback (aka Benjamin Chilton / Elevator Sound) sets a memorable tone as he opens an account with GOTO.

sado-mechanism maintains a subtle yet energizing quality; its rough glitch parts are offset by crisp slow-motion beats and disorienting melodies with acidic undertones. Similar to Richard Devine’s industrial synth-mechanics mixed with the rhythmic crunch-hop of Gescom, lifeisfeedback (aka Benjamin Chilton / Elevator Sound) sets a memorable tone as he opens an account with GOTO.
While “Nervous System Scan” offers dispersed downtempo intermixed with abstract electronics, standout track “Feline Operations” propels its sound design aspects through pseudo-electro components. Opening track “Voice Return (Dub)” feels like liquid streams of noisier constructs as “Behind the Mage’s Blast” closes and delves further into minimal laser beam techno while synths converge in the background. lifeisfeedback’s EP carefully intensifies; the second half splits apart into a disjointedly serene cacophony of glitch and bleeps—reference “A Right to Violence” and “The Ache.”
In closing, sado-mechanism is a strong and definitive debut with a variety of complex yet fluid electronics not to be missed. The artist creates succinct soundscapes keeping us locked in.
