Ambient music doesn’t come much deeper than this, or more engaging. Pure, deep ambient at its finest.
An immersive longform ambient drone piece
I’ve been a fan of Brian Grainger’s music for some time now. When the music scene boomed in the early 2000s thanks to people getting access to broadband internet. Milieu was one of the first artists I remembered stumbling across and thinking to myself, wow, this is fantastic stuff. It was actually quite revelatory for me, and I went on from that to discover many other gems. Furthermore, he’s managed to keep himself truly relevant to the scene for a sustained period of time now, while many of his contemporaries from that period are long gone. This is not a solo project however, it’s a collaboration with Howard Stelzer and I have to be honest and admit, I’m not aware of his music, so I’m looking forward to tuning in to see what this one sounds like.
Draw / Orb is a deep and immersive longform ambient drone piece. It’s very meditative and very seductive also. The slow pulse of the drones draw you in with their warmth and rich, hypnotic tones so you can easily get lost in a haze of fuzzy color as the depth of sounds wash over you without troubling you at all. It’s easy to listen to, very beautiful and the distant guitars that drift in and out give the piece some charged nostalgic resonance. For what though, I’m not quite sure, and it doesn’t matter. It’s simply quite lovely.
