William Fields:: Fictions (GOTO)

As William Fields’ catalog expands, we’ve seen a maturation over the years, and with Fictions, the artist steps into tangled glitch trenches unfettered.

Surreal glitch landscapes

Creative and surreal glitch landscapes flicker and flow on Fictions, William Fields’ latest eight-piece suite for Bristol based GOTO. An album that fractures into hundreds of pieces, there are moments of shifting bits and brittle melodic jolts that slip and slide, easing us into its vortex. While tracks like “Athal,” “Laxa,” and “Obu” are complex and abstract, these are the highlights (found throughout) that cast subtle light waves and experimental peripherals keeping the scene intact and in constant motion. “Zanana” offers its scribbled electrical pulse and careful microscopic rhythms as “Fopa” exposes distracted blips and bleeps from a distant galaxy we’ve yet to discover. As William Fields’ catalog expands, we’ve seen a maturation over the years, and with Fictions, the artist steps into tangled glitch trenches unfettered.
