The year starts in a good way for the chill-out vibe of ambient music and this album can already compete among the best of the genre. A powerful and oceanic immersion through sparkling tone colors and sinuous spacious melodies.
Pulsating sensient ambient soundscapes
If you are an avid listener of high-quality microtonal ambient with a great dose of musicality, with a meditative impulse and sometimes with groovy beatwork, to visit the Barcelona based indie label See Blue Audio is an absolute required passage.
That said, l discovered this label back in time with the release of the languid, automnal and elegant minimal neoclassical ambient I the Storm by Simon McCorry (2024). Progressively, l discovered the brilliant eclectic if not versatile facet of the label, always operating a syncretism between formal experimentations with more minimal pulsating sensient ambient soundscapes. I did not have much occasion to write something about this wonderful publisher, but l’m happy that the new release by Fragile X (here turned into Leit Motif moniker) gives me the opportunity to rectify it.
Fragile X is a Glasgow based chilling cinematic minimal ambient project headed by J.Gorecki. The production mainly consists of self releases out in digital format. This new release titled Vestige is a sophisticated and majestic ambient release shoring up diaphanous and meandering synth textures and soothing if not hypnotic patterns and deep bass tones. Due to its rich intrinsic quality, micro details and ravishing sense of melodicism, this album can be on rotation on a loop without wear.
Easily recommended for fans of Steve Dreiser, Pleq, Rival Consoles, Arovane, Yagya, and everything connecting the realms of slowly-moving cinematic music with evolving minimal etherealism but also Kompakt’s Pop Ambient series.
