Obscured Instinct and the pale Folklore is a cavernous, hymnic, and drone collection with incantatory voices end weird experimentalism.

Produced and distributed by Eighth Towers Records (specializing in obscure and experimental sounds ranging from ambient to conceptual music) Kokum offers here one striking, singular, unusual, and ritualistic soundscaping odyssey where human voices meet various electronic lysergic effects and an arsenal of field recordings/treated found sounds.

In very limited editions and ten years ago Dávid Kovác (alias KOKUM) released a few materials. After many years hiatus this project is back under light with dreary, spooky atmospheric opus mainly crafted based and processed on acoustic timbres. The result invites us to immerse in a bleak otherworldly ceremonial, a soundtrack to experience musically mystical manifestations and spiritual magic. It sounds like ominous post-industrial cinematic music for burial practice, engaging a connection with afterlife as we can recognize in some ethnic tribes.

This macabre hypnotic sound escapism with prominent ritual elements can eventually find analogies with the music produced by Aural Hypnox or Zazen Prod, but the whole sound signature here is much more abstract, uncanny, unpalpable and hermetic. All in all Obscured Instinct and the pale Folklore is a cavernous, hymnic, and drone collection with incantatory voices end weird experimentalism.
