Syn3rgy is four bursts of computer virus pop. Ket3m is a brand-new duo made up of Shay Nassi (aka Mise_en_ scene) and Tom Kemeny (apparently in his recording debut). With a degree in Practical Sound Engineering, the former leads the latter into the abstract mechanics shop to tap and die, weld and rivet zeroes and ones into epileptic jerks, just barely regular enough to be called “rhythmic” but definitely solid and distinct enough to be called “structured.” Quite a departure from Mise_en_ scene’s soft-spoken, ambient minimalism, which dovetails so seamlessly with the work of colleagues and labelmates like Yann Novak, Simon Whetham, and Shinkei. Fizzy, effervescent, angular and jugular. Infectious.
