Shifting Baseline Cycle seamlessly comes together as one coherent flow; sitting high on our electro radar as a quintessential dancefloor or armchair listening experience.
More alien electro shenanigans
J Frank’s trilogy began with Pyramid Transmissions’ Spatial Orbit Intersection (2015) and went on to include Irrational Media Society’s Faulty Source Monitor (2018). Within six pieces, Shifting Baseline Cycle delivers more alien electro shenanigans. “Calculon” plunges headfirst into pure breaks and evocative acid strains, while “Inter Nos” shocks the senses with robotic synth undercurrents and glitch’n bass dynamics. J Frank never lets up when it comes to keeping a tight rhythmic pace, blips and disjointed bleeps are aplenty on this half-dozen assortment.
“My Face In Yours” has a slightly slower tempo, but the fundamental groove is still hypnotizing despite its translucent breaks and synthesizer strands. The pace might feel sluggish, yet it doesn’t deter from its magnetic aura. “Auto Addict” enhances J Frank’s soundscape and fury by diving into rich, thudding bass lines and roughened acid-electronics. Midway through, “Mechanical Sensei” and “Kickstart Upstart” showcase powerful breakbeats, captivating melodies, and a deeper bass than its siblings.
