Featuring ADJ, Hatch, Defunkt Dialekt, and Lectro Cod_E; this EP is right on time for those who enjoy hard-hitting dark electro. Likewise, this works well as a various artist output with all tracks staying true to the project aesthetic and seamless flow from one cut to the next.

Aggressive, suspenseful, and imaginative

Pyramid Transmissions delivers a strong electro tale of four with Volume 2 of the Alien Transmissions series.

Side A welcomes with machine heat right away courtesy of “Faulty Robots” by ADJ. Sounding like a soundtrack theme for a cyborg takeover, “Faulty Robots” has a strong character, highlighted by icy acid bassline arpeggios, zapping FX fun, and intense suspenseful pads. Rhythm wise, you can hear the influence of Kraftwerk just as well as more modern electro drum textures.

Keeping flame to the batch; next up is “Future Sounds of a Launderette” by Hatch. There’s plenty of  elements in this track that create an excellent vibe in tune with the theme of aliens and space including a confident rhythm, ambient and atmospheric pads that ooze with moods of mystery and exploration, and some funky acid lines to add to the presentation. “Future Sounds of a Launderette” is dynamic for play, working good as a proper floor filler, or a mental experience to embrace the atmosphere and cool design.

Moods of mystery and exploration ::

On the other side we get into harder, funkier, mad cyborg style, and deep electro with no hesitation. Defunkt Dialect leads the trip with “Take Aim,” a vocoder-infused delight of electro funk and raw in your ear acid doses. It’s saturated with mind-stimulating effects and industrial-like power. In the foundation of its rhythm is an old-school influenced electro (minimal style), that holds tight with all of the atmospheric madness going on. “Take Aim” has the mood setting the quality and energy that a DJ can easily play as a tool track, or open the set in a strong memorable way.

Closing things out is Lectro Cod_E with the amazing Miami bass tastes of “Don’t Want No Smoke,” the vibe is relentless from the get-go in this track, crafting a well done vision of dystopia, hypnotic dark arpeggios, and wormhole basslines that keep the feeling high in mysterious descent and unlimited bass-funk. All of this is complemented perfectly with vivid soundscapes, zaps, and cyber dialogue. Pretty simple, there is a lot of fun and dark goodness going on in this burning vision.

Likewise, this is what listeners can expect in the overall aura of Alien Transmissions Vol 2. The purpose is to be aggressive, suspenseful, imaginative, and move the body; all of which is easily displayed on this EP. Another cool aspect of this release, is that you can truly file it under true electro; the EP is not pretend at all, or does it use the genre-tag in disrespectful ways as other music communities might. If you know what I’m talking about, and like electro, this is well worth checking out. It’s available now both on vinyl and digitally at most good stores.
