In The Absence of Words :: Memento Mori (Self-Released)

Memento Mori offers deep, spacious and panoramic dronescapes built on overlapping loops, humming tones, and slippery evanescent melodies which suggest a melancholic dive in blurred-out personal memories.

New promising actor in the isolationist-dark ambient galaxy, In The Absence of Words is tremendously active, delivered a handful of digital, self-produced pieces since a couple of years. Never heard about this project before so I decided to immerse myself in part of the production available on BC. To gain in consistency, in fluidity, and to catch the attention in a more efficient way, it would have been better to listen to all these separate tracks in one cohesive album, based on a strong concept (apparently this idea should be put in concrete very soon). This to say that this project does not lack of expressive potentials and convincing compositional elements to push things in one achieved album. In the Absence of Words and in particular Memento Mori offers deep, spacious and panoramic dronescapes built on overlapping loops, humming tones, and slippery evanescent melodies which suggest a melancholic dive in blurred-out personal memories. One oceanic, sinister, massive, minimalist, amorphous, and soothing musical experience that will logically be appreciated by fans of the genre (ie. drifting ambient iciness.)

Memento Mori is available on Bandcamp.
