Rugged, robust, and modular in its construct, Ignatius takes his time in creating deconstructed, slow moving sonic structures. Carefully deformed downtempo electro and blissful DIY electronic disintegration is in full effect from start to end.
Rugged, robust, and modular in its construct, Ignatius takes his time in creating deconstructed, slow moving sonic structures. With eight pieces almost all over the eight minute mark, bite size chunks of glitch, acid, and analog debris tend to erode, break down, and decompose into unrecognizable fragments. Stretched to the limits, each slice reveals a percussive collage that bends its way through the influx of data crunching. Absorbing such an avalanche of organized noise can seem overwhelming in one take, however, it all comes together in cohesive form. The abstract nature of each track unwinds itself and eventually dithers in its fractured surroundings. Laying down epoxy coated beats, bass, and distortion around a myriad of minimal effects, it’s the artists’ knack for developing organic and mechanical compositions that is captivating. These disconnected sounds are somehow lightly welded together, run through several miles of patch cables, and fed through the Eurorack Modular synthesizer with creative control. As a result, the inherent pulse of this album is an amalgam of opposing forces sporadically crossing each other. Carefully deformed downtempo electro and blissful DIY electronic disintegration is in full effect from start to end.
